Mitsubishi introduced yet another model in their Lancer lineup, the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer. In the 2016 model they gave it a front face lift and some advanced infotainment while the 2017 model comes in a range of trim levels. There are four trim levels including the ES 2.0, ES 2.4 AWC, SE 2.4 AWC and SEL 2.4 AWC.
Mitsubishi Motor Corporation is a multinational car manufacturer hailing from Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the largest automakers in the world. According to the car brand, there have been nine generations of development of the Lancer lineup before the current model.
Here we will discuss some of the highlighting aspects of the new Lancer in terms of its exterior, interior, performance and other specifications.
Classic yet Stunning Exterior of the new Mitsubishi Lancer
The new Lancer is here with recognizable lines and classic contours that made this lineup popular among the car owners. The exterior gives it a typical 5 passenger 4 door sedan look. The front showcases a mesh grille spilt into two with the bumper lining in between.
The top half features the Mitsubishi logo. Along with that, the LED headlights are sleek and sculptured and below those are the standard fog lights. These LED running lights and bright Halogen headlights helps in improving your visibility while the haze-tackling fog lights help to navigate in low visibility and challenging driving conditions.
The sides have slight lines to give an aerodynamic feel to the sedan body structure, but the chassis is designed with a Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body. It utilizes crumple zones that route and absorb energy during high-impact collisions. The side mirrors on every trim level have three unique features; they’re heated for extra visibility, signaling for added safety and folding for ease of parking.
The rear has aggressively designed LED taillights, protruding to the sides and slanting upwards. In the middle of the boot is the Mitsubishi logo and beneath it all are two exhaust pipes. Another defining feature of the exterior are the stylish 16-inch two machine finish alloy wheels that are standard, while there is also an option of the impressive 18″ two-tone alloy wheels.
The body colour of the new Lancer comes with a choice of six distinct colours including Alloy Silver, Rally Red and Diamond White among others.
Sporty Interior of the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer
Like any other sedan, the new Mitsubishi Lancer have the capacity of seating 5 passengers. Lancer boasts sporty interior features like gloss black or mesh-print contrast accents, an optional aluminum shift knob and brake handle, an available sun-soaking one-touch power glass sunroof and more. All the essential interior aspects are wrapped in leather accents including the steering wheel and the shift knob.
When it comes to the seating area, not only does it provide with ample leg room and headroom, its 60/40 rear split seat also makes it quick and easy to reconfigure the cabin. This is convenient for long trips with a bunch friends or family or for a large load of cargo.
In order to keep everyone comfortable and cozy in every season, there is the Automatic Climate Control System. This keeps the cabin temperature desirable by automatically adjusting the fan speed as well as all other air sources.
Confident Powertrain of the 2017 Lancer
Unlike the 2016 version that only had one engine option, a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, the 2017 model offers two MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control) engines; the 2.0-litre engine producing 148 horsepower and the 2.4-litre producing 168 horsepower.
Similarly, these engines are mated with a choice of the efficient, hands-on 5-speed manual transmission, standard on ES 2.0L, or Mitsubishi’s CVT (continuously variable transmission). It has a torque of 198 Nm.
Mitsubishi calls the Lancer’s electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system All-Wheel Control. It includes a mode selector for front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive “Auto” or all-wheel-drive “Lock,” to maintain optimum traction in all kinds of weather or driving conditions. This is standard in all of its trim levels available.
Technological Interior of the Lancer 2017
The new Mitsubishi Lancer is laden with some of the most advanced technological features in a car including the infotainment and navigational system.
The high definition 7-inch touchscreen navigation comes as some optional features. It is equipped with 3D mapping, road speed limits, two manual map updates among other. It also has an application that helps to find the fastest routes using carpool lanes.
On a head up display, the driver can be aware of a wide range of information including outside temperature, fuel level, average fuel consumption and other relevant details. The coloured LCD multifunctional display is found between the tachometer and speedometer for the convenience of the driver.
Other than the navigational convenience, there is a 6.1-inch touchscreen audio controls that takes care of the entertain needs and syncs with all mobile devices. This is paired with the 710 watts nine-speaker surround sound system for a complete in-cabin entertainment experience.
There are also some other specifications that are present for the comfort of the driver and the passengers. For the driver, there is a hands-free system that allows advanced speech recognition. It can be connected to any mobile devices via Bluetooth and enjoy a personalized experience while you drive.
